Wait, how does online therapy even work?

Online therapy (telehealth) is an easy way to get quality therapy services from the convenience of your private space. Typically this is a service done by a board-certified professional over video conferencing or by phone. At Olive Tree Health, our clinician has specialized in Technology-Assisted Counseling by Arkansas State Board of Examiners in Counseling. This means you will get the same quality services you would get in person without having to leave your home.

Despite concerns, online therapy can allow people to be more honest and vulnerable than they would during fact-to-face sessions. This allows for greater improvement and change for the client. Many insurances have realized this and are covering telemental health services -even before the pandemic started.

Online therapy can be done from anywhere in Arkansas. It can happen from the comfort of your home, car, or anywhere else that is best. We will send you a link to our secure, virtual waiting room. All you need is a quiet, private place you can use your phone, tablet, or computer and a Wi-Fi connection. We recommend updating your browser to the latest setting, grabbing your favorite pair of headphones, and fuzzy slippers to ease your nerves (it’ll be your secret!).

Online counseling helps you get the support you need no matter what is going on in the world.

Telehealth might be great for you if…

  • you reside in Arkansas

  • are traveling for work

  • live in rural parts of the state with limited mental health services

  • have a newborn or littles and traveling is a hassle

  • are visiting family

  • live on a college campus

  • don’t have time to travel to and from sessions during the day

  • have physical limitations

  • one of us has a cold

  • you are worried about running into someone you know at the office

  • are quarantining or social distancing

  • have anxiety about covid or leaving your home

  • don’t want to sit in traffic

Wherever you are, online therapy is a convenient option.

Olive Tree Health’s recommendations for the best experience during online therapy:

-Use headphones to increase privacy

-Update your browser

-Choose a time with the most privacy for you

-Practice propping your phone up so you don’t have to hold it

-Make sure you have reliable Wi-Fi (to be able to stream video platforms without issue is all you need)

-Use a tablet or computer to get the most of online therapy

-Have your phone nearby in case Wi-Fi goes out
